Story 10

I Would Be Less If We Hadn't Met

Dear Andrea,
Although you wrote that you receive many e-mails from people telling you of their varied experiences of internet romance I still wanted to take to the keyboard and let you know of my story, which is a little bit different.

My ‘love story’ began in May of this year when I met Les in a virtual coffee house.  He lives in Canada although he is of Hungarian origin and because of that, we were able to correspond in our ‘mother tongue.’  Initially we corresponded in the ‘coffee house’ only but later through e-mail and finally on the phone for several hours.  There were days when we've spent not only one but as long as 5-6 hours on the phone with short breaks between.  Things progressed so far as our meeting at the Munich airport and driving together to Hungary.  We've spent a splendid week together.  Naturally we've exchanged pictures prior but those were neither the freshest or the best quality photos.  He returned to Canada after one week and we've been friends ever since.

The only reason we are no longer romantically involved is because I have and had at the time a real life relationship, although at the time we met it was somewhat rocky.  The love I feel toward him is still there although it had been transformed to something else now.  I still believe that the seven days we've spent together were the most remarkable in my life and I would be less had we never met!  I don't know what the future holds but I feel there is a chance that he will return to Hungary and at that time our relationship would continue in some form.

Sincerely,
Timusz
